Italy vs Saudi Arabia 29/05/18
29 May 2018
Italy are set to face off Saudi Arabia in their third friendly match after failing to qualify to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia due to terrible attacking performance against Sweden in the playoff. Gli Azzurri disappointed in their previous two friendly games against England and Argentina, drawing 1-1 with Three Lions and losing 2-0 to the South American heavyweights. On the other hand, Saudi Arabia have managed to secure their spot in Russia, as they are set to play in the group alongside the hosts as well as Egypt and Uruguay. The Green Falcons have won two straight matches against Greece and Algeria, both by two goals to nil following three consecutive games in which they’ve failed to secure a victory.
It will be the first time in history Italy and Saudi Arabia play against each other. The encounter between two sides will take place at the Kybunpark in St. Gallen, Switzerland.
Roberto Mancini looks to change the face of the national team introducing a few youngsters to the squad, with Bryan Cristante of Atalanta, Sassuolo’s prodigy, Matteo Politano, and Roma midfielder, Lorenzo Pellegrini, all found their names on the list. As for the Asian side, Juan Antonio Pizzi has called-up all of the players who helped the team make their way to the World Cup.
