Internazionale vs Torino 14/07/20
14 July 2020
Internazionale and Torino go head-to-head at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in what may as well be a high-scoring Serie A affair. Three of their last four top-flight H2Hs have seen over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet.
Inter’s hopes of the ‘Scudetto’ are pretty much gone after they’ve picked up just three wins in six Serie A fixtures since the resumption of football in June (D2, L1). Curiously, all of those games have featured over 1.5 second-half goals, with three of those four results (win/loss) producing the identical 2-1 scoreline. On the contrary, 57.14% of Inter’s Serie A home goals scored this season came in the first half of play (20/35), which is why Antonio Conte’s men scored the opening goal (if any) in 11 of 16 league home games (68.75%). But, even if they concede the opener, the ‘Nerazzurri’ should not be written off – Inter lost just one of four Serie A home games in which they’ve shipped the first goal (W2, D1).
Meanwhile, a 3-1 home win over Brescia last time out brought Torino’s three-game losing streak in Serie A to a halt, with each of those matches featuring over 2.5 goals and both teams scoring. However, away from home in the league, the ‘Maroons’ have lost six consecutive games, scoring one goal or less on five of those occasions. Indeed, Torino’s inability to bounce back after conceding the opener has seen them lose all nine of their Serie A trips in which they’ve shipped the opening goal. Also, a lack of pace in the early stages has witnessed Moreno Longo’s players find the net inside the opening 15 minutes of play in just one of 15 league trips this campaign.
