Internazionale vs Juventus 07/10/19

7 October 2019

Sunday’s Serie A (SA) action concludes at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza where league toppers Internazionale take on the reigning holders Juventus for a massive showdown.

Antonio Conte got off to a flying start at Inter, becoming the first coach in the club’s history to win all six of the opening SA fixtures. The resurgent Milanese giants can proudly boast the best defensive record in Italy’s top-tier (2), as well as, the second joint-best attacking output (13). What’s more, Conte’s Inter has yet to concede a goal at home this SA season, although two of their three league triumphs here ended by a narrow 1-0 scoreline. Notably though, five of the Nerazzurri’s six SA triumphs have seen them take at least a one-goal lead into halftime, as they remain the only team in Italy that is yet to concede a goal in the first half.

Juventus’ last reverse in H2Hs came in September 2016, and it was also their only failure in 13 previous SA encounters with Inter (W7, D5, L1). The Bianconeri have won two of three SA trips this term, both by a single-goal margin. But, goals have been tough to come by with just three goals three away goals scored by Juventus so far – none in the opening 20 minutes. Still, Maurizio Sarri’s rock-solid defense has shipped fewer away goals than any other in Italy thus far (1), with that only goal conceded coming inside the opening four minutes during their trip to Brescia. Juventus’ recent attacking output against Inter on the road is not in sharp contrast to that, as the reigning SA holders netted one goal or less in three of their last four league visits to the Giuseppe Meazza.
