Internazionale vs Brescia 02/07/20

2 July 2020

Internazionale welcome relegation-threatened Brescia to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, looking to bring their unbeaten run in Serie A H2Hs to six matches (W3, D2).

The hosts have avoided defeat in each of their three Serie A games in the post-pandemic period (W2, D1), with all featuring over 2.5 goals and both teams score. Additionally, the ‘Nerazzurri’ have racked up a ten-game unbeaten run at home in Serie A (W5, D5), scoring over 1.5 goals seven times during that streak. Inter are confident of pulling off another win here, given that they’ve won six of nine top-flight H2Hs held at this venue since 1992 (D2, L1). Quick out of the blocks, Antonio Conte’s men have notched a league third-high 16 first-half home goals this season. So, it’s not strange that they’ve scored the opening goal (if any) in nine of 14 Serie A home fixtures this term (64.29%), despite failing to keep that lead on three of those occasions (W6, D3).

Meanwhile, the visitors have yet to pick up a league win this calendar year (D4, L7), as they enter the round trailing 17th-placed Sampdoria by eight points. Brescia’s fragile backline has shipped over 1.5 goals in eight of those 11 Serie A matches, which has been true in 57.14% (eight) of their 14 league road trips this season. Particularly vulnerable after the break, Le Rondinelle have shipped the majority (64%) of the Serie A away goals conceded in the second half of play (16/25). In turn, Brescia’s continuous lapses of concentration in the late stages have seen just three sides concede at least once inside the final 15 minutes on more occasions than Diego Lopez’s team (ten).
