Inter Milan vs Monaco

One of the most exciting fixtures in the Champions League this midweek pits Inter Milan and Monaco against each other at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

One point will seal Inter Milan’s automatic last-16 qualification after Simone Inzaghi’s charges bounced back from a late heartbreak at Bayer Leverkusen (0-1) with an identical away win against Sparta Prague in the penultimate round. Defensive resilience has been the cornerstone of Inter’s impressive Champions League campaign (W5, D1, L1) as they boast a competition-high six clean sheets after the opening seven rounds. Furthermore, the reigning Scudetto holders head into proceedings amid a five-game unbeaten run in all competitions (W4, D1), looking to extend their outstanding unbeaten home streak in the Champions League to 13 matches (W10, D2). Their last five home outings at Europe’s top table have also yielded a clean sheet, a feat they failed to achieve in three out of four previous European games against Monaco. 

The visitors could throw a spanner in the works again, especially as they enjoy their best Champions League campaign, having generated a 57% win ratio in the first seven rounds (W4, D1, L2). However, those two defeats came in the last three rounds and saw them concede precisely three goals. Manager Adi Hutter has failed to plug the leaks, with Monaco conceding precisely twice in three of their six competitive games in 2025, including a 3-2 home league win against Rennes at the weekend. Yet, a 1-0 home triumph against Aston Villa in the previous Champions League round was a rare exception. Leaving France doesn’t bode well, considering ‘Les Monégasques’ have failed to win nine of their last ten away matches in Europe’s elite club competition (D4, L5).
