Inter Milan vs Lecce 27/08/19

27 August 2019

It is all set for Antonio Conte’s managerial debut at Inter Milan, as the Nerazzurri welcome Lecce to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in the Serie A (SA) curtain-raiser.

Unbeaten in their last five SA home outings (W2, D3), Inter conceded just ten goals in 19 league fixtures at home for the entire 2018/19 SA campaign – less than any other side in the Italian top tier. However, the Milanese giants struggled to impress in the attack in that sequence, netting just 27 goals on an average of 1.42 goals scored per home match. As a result, just six of Inter’s SA home games last season produced over 2.5 goals (31.57%). Interestingly, all four of Inter’s SA home wins since the turn of the year have seen them score precisely two goals per match, with two of them being accompanied by a clean sheet.

Meanwhile, the visitors have secured a long-awaited SA return, but they now face a team who has beaten them seven times in their last nine top-flight H2H meetings (W1, D1, L7). It’s been seven years since Lecce last featured in SA, but they would surely be happy to replicate their away form from the 2011/12 season when they secured 58% of their total league points on the road. Unfortunately for them, their away form from the previous Serie B (SB) campaign was nowhere near to the one seven years ago, as they won just 34.85% of their total points away from home the last term. Moreover, seven of Lecce’s eight SB defeats in the 2018/19 campaign have come on the road, as well as, 66.66% of their total goals conceded (30 of 45).
