Inter Milan vs Eintracht Frankfurt 15/03/19
15 March 2019
After playing out a goalless draw in Germany, Inter Milan and Eintracht Frankfurt will face-off against each other at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza with everything to play for.
The hosts have drastically improved their home form having gone from three straight games without a win (D1, L2) to three consecutive triumphs, in which they’ve scored eight goals while conceding only one in the process. The Milanese heavyweights have gone past Rapid Vienna in the previous round of the Europa League knockout stage (5-0 on aggregate). The Nerazzurri’s main strength is their impressive backline that has restricted their rivals to a maximum of one goal per match in 17 of 19 home outings across all competitions this term. Luciano Spalletti has to be encouraged by the fact his players have netted 2+ match goals in three successive home races after bagging just one goal in the previous three. Oddly, Inter have secured just one victory in five of their previous H2H meetings with the Bundesliga sides (W1, D1, L3), scoring seven goals while conceding nine in the process.
On the other hand, the visitors go into this clashes off the back of a comfortable 3-0 road win over Fortuna Dusseldorf, thus stretching their road unbeaten run to five games (W2, D3). In that period, the Eagles have notched 2+ match goals on four occasions, while keeping a clean sheet three times. Another promising fact for Adi Hutter is that his players have pulled off three wins on four EL road trips this term (W3, D1), scoring over 1.5 goals per match in each. But, a potential setback for the Bundesliga outfit could be that they are yet to preserve a clean slate in all four of their EL away fixtures having conceded 2+ match goals in two. Hutter is thrilled to know his men have kept three clean sheets on their last four road trips across all competitions after conceding at least one goal in six consecutive away meetings.
