Incheon United vs Pohang Steelers 31/05/20
31 May 2020
Incheon United and Pohang Steelers go head-to-head at the Sungui Arena Park in what could be a potentially ‘high-scoring’ K League 1 affair. Indeed, three of their last five top-flight H2Hs have seen over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet.
The hosts are still seeking their elusive first league win in the 2020/21 campaign (D2, L1), having yet to open their scoring account, too. What’s more, that one goal Incheon have conceded so far came from the spot, meaning their league fixtures are yet to produce a goal from an open play. Going back to July 2019, the ‘Mariners’ have drawn a blank in half of their last ten top-flight home outings, scoring under 1.5 goals in three of the other five. Their immense problems in the final third may continue here, considering they take on a side they’ve scored under 1.5 goals against in three of their four previous league home H2Hs.
On the other hand, the visitors have endured a turbulent start to the new league campaign (W1, D1, L1), with both of those results (win/loss) seeing the winner on the day find the net in both halves of play. Lapses in concentration in the second half have seen two of Pohang’s three league goals conceded so far come beyond the hour mark. But, ‘Steelers’ have suffered just one defeat in their six previous league road trips, last season included (W3, D2), with three of those four results yielding a three-goal margin. In turn, Pohang have lost only once in their last seven top-flight H2Hs with Incheon (W5, D1), shutting out their opponent on four of those occasions.
