Hungary vs Uruguay 16/11/19
16 November 2019
Hungary and Uruguay go head-to-head at the Puskás Ferenc Stadion for an international friendly meeting.
The hosts have endured mixed fortunes during the previous international break (W1, L1), with both of those games seeing the winners on the day keep a clean sheet and open the scoring inside the first ten minutes. Still, the Hungarians have been impressive at home over the past 14 months, registering six triumphs in eight matches on home soil, friendlies included (W6, L1). Five of those games have been settled by a single-goal margin, with three of them ending with the identical 2-1 scoreline (W2, L1). The ‘Magyars’ have been an exciting side to watch lately, as five of their last seven matches produced over 2.5 goals, with four of them seeing both teams score.
The visitors have, meanwhile, racked up a four-game unbeaten run since exiting the 2019 Copa America (W2, D2), as they prepare for their first clash against a European nation since a 1-0 loss to France in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. While both of their draws in the above sequence finished with the same 1-1 scoreline, each of Uruguay’s wins has been hard-fought, as they’ve both come via a narrow one-goal margin. Indeed, for La Celeste, goals have been in short supply lately, as they’ve scored one goal or less in five of their last six outings, friendlies included. Nonetheless, Óscar Tabárez’s men are undefeated in their previous five away matches (W3, D2), with all of those wins seeing them score at least two goals.
