Huddersfield Town vs Manchester United 05/05/19
5 May 2019
Dead-last Huddersfield Town come face-to-face with Manchester United at the Kirklees Stadium as the visitors hope to post their first Premier League win since early April.
Rock-bottom hosts have already brought tickets for Championship following an underwhelming campaign that has seen them collect just 14 points from 36 PL fixtures. The Terriers have suffered 13 defeats in their last 14 PL outings (W1), failing to find the net nine times across those failures. As a result of their disastrous displays in the final third, Huddersfield remain the PL’s worst attacking side having netted just 20 goals so far at a miserly average of 0.56 goals scored per match. Also, only one team has shipped more goals than the Terriers (74) so far, with Jan Siewert’s men struggling to preserve a clean slate in 31 of 36 league clashes.
Meanwhile, a poor haul of four points from their last five PL games (W1, D1, L3) has seen the visitors drop down the table, as they now trail fourth-placed Chelsea by three points. With two league fixtures left to play, the Red Devils are obliged to pick up all three points here and hope their Champions League promotion rivals will make mistakes. United’s massive drop-off in form has seen them go from nine straight away wins across all competitions to five consecutive defeats. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have not only conceded over 1.5 match goals in all five of their last competitive away games, but they’ve failed to find the net three times in that period, netting precisely one goal per match in the remaining two.
