Houston Dynamo vs Sporting Kansas City 06/09/20
06 September 2020
BBVA Compass Stadium is the venue as Houston Dynamo take on Sporting Kansas City for an exciting MLS showdown.
The hosts seem to have managed to find their feet following a disappointing start to the season, going from six consecutive league fixtures without a win (D4, L2) to back-to-back triumphs. Curiously, both of those victories have seen Houston score once or more before the break and at least twice after, with each producing a full-time margin of precisely three goals. Also, the ‘Orange Crush’ have conceded fewer home goals than any other side in the Western Conference (1), with two of their three MLS home matches this season featuring under 2.5 total goals. Additionally, they’ve restricted their visitors to a maximum of one goal per game in all six of their previous top-flight H2Hs held at this venue (W3, D3).
Meanwhile, the visitors take the field after failing to pick up a win in three successive MLS outings (D2, L1), all of which saw both teams on the scoresheet and Kansas concede the opening goal. But, away from home, the ‘Wizards’ have won all but one of their four top-flight trips this term (D1), finding the net in both halves in each of those successes. Quick out of the blocks, Peter Vermes’ men have hit the net before the 20-minute mark in three MLS away fixtures so far. Interestingly, if they concede the opener as they did in four of eight MLS matches this season, Kansas City may still avoid defeat – they have lost just one applicable game (W1, D2).
