Hibernian vs Motherwell 15/08/20

15 August 2020

Hibernian will be looking to post a fifth consecutive Scottish Premiership home victory over Motherwell when the two sides meet at Easter Road this weekend.

The hosts have got off to a flying start to the new Premiership campaign, winning all three of their opening league matches, though two via a narrow one-goal margin. Quick out of the blocks, the ‘Hibees’ have scored the division’s high five first-half goals, with three arriving between the 30-minute mark and half-time. Easter Road has been a venue of entertainment this calendar year, as six of Hibernian’s eight competitive fixtures here have seen over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet (W5, D2, L1). In turn, five of their previous eight top-flight H2Hs held at this stadium have featured over 2.5 goals and both sides hitting the net.

Meanwhile, the visitors have started their league campaign with a whimper rather than a bang, losing two of their opening three Premiership fixtures (D1). Both of those defeats produced the identical 1-0 scoreline, which now means the ‘Dossers’ have drawn a blank in six of their previous 11 top-flight outings, last season included. Additionally, Stephen Robinson’s men are winless in six away matches across various competitions (D3, L3). Five of those six games have featured under 2.5 goals, while each of those three defeats yielded a single-goal margin. Yet, if they find the back of the net here, Motherwell are likely to do it in the first half, as six of their seven away goals scored this calendar year arrived before half-time.
