Hertha BSC entertain Bayern Munich at the Olympiastadion this weekend in what could be an exciting Bundesliga (BL) fixture.

Unbeaten in their last four BL outings (W2, D2), the hosts have managed to create a four-point gap on relegation-threatened Fortuna Dusseldorf, with both of their wins during that four-game sequence coming via the identical 1-0 scoreline. Just one of Hertha’s previous seven BL home fixtures has ended in a draw (W3, L3), with four of those results (win/loss) in that period coming via a single-goal margin. ‘Die Alte Dame’ will have to avoid shipping the opening goal here to boost their hopes of extending a three-game unbeaten run in top-flight home H2hs with Bayern (W1, D2). Indeed, except for a 3-1 win over Dusseldorf, Jurgen Klinsmann’s men have failed to return a single point from the other three BL home games that saw them concede the opener.

Meanwhile, the visitors have overseen an upturn in results ahead of the winter break, going from back-to-back BL defeats to three consecutive triumphs. While both of the abovementioned failures came via the same 2-1 scoreline, all three of Bayern’s victories during that five-game sequence have come via a margin of multiple goals. Desperate to reduce a four-point gap on table-toppers Leipzig, the Bavarians will have to overcome an indifferent away form. The reigning German champions have picked up just two wins in their last five league road trips (D1, L2), with four of those fixtures producing over 3.5 goals. Hansi Flick’s men are particularly dangerous in the final stages of the game, having found the net inside the last 15 minutes of play in four of nine BL away matches so far this season.
