Hertha Berlin vs Schalke 04 26/01/19

26 January 2019

Two unpredictable sides will face-off at the Olympiastadion as Hertha Berlin welcome Schalke 04. Both teams come into this meeting after securing victories in the last Bundesliga fixture, with Schalke chasing back-to-back league wins for the first time since October.

Pal Dardai’s men are not going through best of times, having won just one of their last four Bundesliga clashes (W1, D1, L2), conceding over 1.5 goals per match three times in the process. What’s more, Die Alte Dame have secured just one triumph in their previous five Bundesliga home games (W1, D3, L1). If Hertha win this, it would probably be ton nil, as three of their four home wins saw them beating their rivals without conceding a goal. However, Berlin outfit lost four out of last seven H2H meetings with Schalke at this venue, securing just two wins in that period.

Meanwhile, the visitors have gone from four successive Bundesliga failures (D2, L2) to two consecutive wins that have seen them score over 1.5 goals in each. A 3-1 win over Stuttgart has brought Schalke’s four-game road winless run in all competitions to an end (D2, L2), but the Miners have failed to keep a clean sheet once again. Domenico Tedesco’s players have conceded a goal in all of their last six road trips, allowing over 1.5 goals per match three times in the process. On the other hand, the Royal Blues are dealing with huge problems in attack, as they’ve scored one goal or less in 11 of their 14 competitive road meetings this season.
