Gwangju vs Ulsan Hyundai 30/05/20
30 May 2020
Ulsan Hyundai travel to the Gwangju World Cup Stadium to take on Gwangju, looking to extend their unbeaten streak in K League 1 away H2Hs to eight consecutive games (W4, D3).
Gwangju’s experience since returning to the top-flight can’t encourage the home fans ahead of this round, considering the ‘Gwangju Griffins’ lost each of their opening three league matches without scoring a single goal. Particularly vulnerable in the early stages, the hosts have shipped three of their total four league goals this term in the opening 12 minutes of action. As a consequence, they’ve now suffered five consecutive defeats, last season included. They now face an uphill task of overcoming these tumultuous times, as they tackle the Ulsan side that outplayed them in six of their last nine competitive H2Hs (D3).
As for the visitors, they’ve been pretty convincing at the beginning of the new season, racking up back-to-back league victories before being held to a 1-1 home draw to Busan last time out. The league’s most potent attack so far has been quite lethal after the break, notching up six of their total eight top-flight goals in the second half of play. In turn, Ulsan’s tendency to move through the gears in the final stretches has seen them find the net inside the last 15 minutes of action in each of their opening three K League 1 games.
