Granada vs Real Madrid 14/07/20

14 July 2020

Real Madrid travel to the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes to take on Granada, looking to extend a winning run in the La Liga H2Hs to ten games and move a step closer to lifting the league title.

The hosts enter the round unbeaten in three La Liga matches (W2, D1), all of which saw them score two goals or more. However, Granada have failed to pick up a win in five consecutive league home games, including the last three, with each of those results (win/loss) yielding a single-goal margin. In fact, 85.71% (12) of Granada’s 14 La Liga home results (W9, L5) this season have produced a full-time margin of one goal. Also, the ‘Nazaríes’ have experienced mixed fortunes in their previous three top-flight home clashes against the current top-four sides (W1, D1, L1), with each of them featuring under 2.5 goals. If Diego Martinez’s players find the net here, they are likely to do it after the break – 71.43% (15) of Granada’s 21 La Liga home goals scored this term came in the second half of play.

Meanwhile, the visitors are a force to be reckoned with, having won all eight of their La Liga clashes since the resumption of football in June, as they take the field one-point clear of second-placed Barcelona. Notably, six of those triumphs have yielded a clean sheet, including the last five, which has been true in seven of their previous ten wins in top-flight H2Hs. In turn, none of Real Madrid’s eight league trips this calendar year has ended in a draw (W6, L2), with six of those results seeing the winner on the day keep a blank sheet. Indeed, Los Blancos have based their away success on a rock-solid defense that has shipped a league-low 11 goals on the road this season on an average of 0.64 goals conceded per La Liga trip.
