Granada vs Deportivo Alaves 21/09/20
21 September 2020
High-flying Granada and out-of-sorts Deportivo Alaves go head-to-head at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes in the second round of the 2020/21 La Liga fixtures.
Granada got off to a flying start to the new La Liga season, securing a comfortable 2-0 home triumph over Athletic Club. The hosts go into this meeting on the back of a convincing 4-0 away win over Teuta in the Europa League qualifying, with means they are now enjoying a four-game winning run in all competitions, last season included. Far more comfortable on home turf, ‘Los Nazaríes’ registered a clear majority (62.5%) of their La Liga wins last season at home (10/16), with seven of those ten triumphs being accompanied by a clean sheet. In turn, Granada won both of their La Liga clashes against Alaves back in 2019/20 via at least a two-goal margin and without conceding once.
Meanwhile, the visitors have carried their goal-scoring problems from 2019/20 into the new season, succumbing to a 1-0 home loss to Real Betis on Matchday 1. As a result, they have now drawn a blank in eight of their previous ten La Liga fixtures, last season included. Indeed, a lack of firepower up front saw Alaves score a miserable average of 0.73 goals per league trip last season, netting over 1.5 goals in just three (15.79%) of 19 La Liga away games back in 2019/20. That’s hardly going to change now, given the ‘Babazorros’ have managed to score just once in their last three La Liga H2H encounters (L3).
