Gimcheon Sangmu vs Seoul

Gimcheon Sangmu and Seoul are set to square off at Gimcheon Stadium in a mid-table K League 1 contest.

Gimcheon’s quest to equal or better last season’s third-place finish hangs in the balance after a dismal run of one win from four league games saw their lead over 7th-placed Gangwon shrank to only three points (W1, D1, L2). Despite only losing one home league outing all season, the impending return to the Gimcheon Stadium isn’t necessarily an encouraging sign, given the hosts’ indifferent three-match league record at this venue (W1, D1, L1). Seoul’s visit doesn’t bode well either, with Chung Jung-yong’s side failing to win their last three top-flight H2Hs as hosts (D1, L2), scoring a meager average of 0.66 goals per game.

Meanwhile, Seoul extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to five games with a gut-wrenching 1-1 home draw against Suwon FC (W2, D3), hence a three-point deficit to 6th-placed Gwangju pre-round. Throwing the Korean Cup out of the equation, Kim Gi-Dong’s men have only won once in their last nine games (D5, L3), failing to score more than one goal eight times! Seoul’s well-documented scoring woes have come to the fore on their K League 1 road trips this season, with the visitors netting just three goals across their eight away matches (W2, D4, L2). However, their defense has been air-tight as they only conceded four goals in that stretch.
