Germany vs Argentina 10/10/19
10 October 2019
A blockbuster international friendly meeting with Argentina that will take place at the Signal Iduna Park will serve Germany as a warm-up for their upcoming commitments in the 2022 European Championship qualifying.
A 2-0 away triumph over Northern Ireland has been Germany’s response to a shock 4-2 home defeat to the Netherlands, as they will be now looking to post their first triumph in H2Hs (inside 90 minutes) after three unsuccessful attempts (D1, L2). The hosts have won five of their last eight matches over the past 12 months, friendlies included (W5, D2, L1). While all of those triumphs have witnessed Die Mannschaft score 2+ match goals, four have been accompanied by a clean sheet. Also, the majority of those games have produced over 2.5 goals (5), with four seeing both teams score.
After finishing third in the 2019 Copa America, the South American heavyweights have featured in two international friendlies, registering partial success (W1, D1). Still, a goalless draw with Chile and a 4-0 demolition of Mexico mean that Argentina have lost only two of their last eight fixtures, friendlies included (W4, D2, L2). Curiously, four of those results (wins/loss) have finished with the identical 2-0 scoreline (W2, L2), with three of the last seeing the winning side score one goal in each half. However, the entertainment has been largely missing across those matches, as just two of them featured over 2.5 goals, with only two seeing both teams score too.
