Gangwon vs Seongnam 23/05/20
23 May 2020
Gangwon and Seongnam will face-off at the Chuncheon Songam Stadium this weekend in what could be a ‘low-scoring’ K League 1 affair. Indeed, four of their last six league H2Hs have featured under 2.5 goals.
Both of Gangwon’s opening two K League 1 matches have seen the winning side secure a two-goal margin success and hit the net in the final 15 minutes of play at least once. Taking into account their results from the final stretch of the last season, the hosts have lost just once in their six previous league home games (W4, D1, L1), with Gangwon scoring over 1.5 goals on each of those occasions. But, things could be rather awkward here, considering they’ve failed to find the back of the net in three of their last four league H2Hs held at this venue (W1, D1, L2).
Meanwhile, the visitors have yet to lose at the beginning of the new season (W1, D1), and that’s mainly thanks to a rock-solid defense that has yet to concede a goal. But, judging on Seongnam’s away form from the final part of the last season, they may find it difficult to keep things going. In fact, they’ve lost half (4) of their eight previous league trips (W2, D2), with each of those results (win/loss) seeing the winner on the day keep a clean sheet. Yet, the ‘Seongnam Magpies’ can be encouraged by the fact that they’ve won three of their last four league H2Hs with Gangwon (L1), with each of those results coming via a single-goal margin.
