Gangwon vs Jeonbuk Motors 30/05/20

30 May 2020

Jeonbuk Motors will look to extend their impressive ten-game unbeaten run in the K League 1 away H2Hs with Gangwon (W8, D2) when the two sides lock horns at the Chuncheon Songam Stadium this weekend.

The hosts have picked up a little bit of everything in the opening three rounds of the league fixtures (W1, D1, L1), with both of those results (win/loss) yielding a two-goal margin. Much better second-half performers, the ‘Gangwon Kodiaks’ have netted three of their four top-flight goals so far after the halftime break, with two of their four goals conceded coming in the second 45 minutes of play, too. Kim Byung-soo’s men now face a formidable challenge of the Jeonbuk side, whom they’ve failed to outplay in each of their last three top-flight H2Hs (D1, L2). To make things worse, Gangwon have conceded precisely three goals per match in two of those three encounters.

Meanwhile, the visitors have enjoyed an impressive start to the 2020/21 campaign so far, putting together three consecutive wins in as many league outings. Particularly dangerous in the late stages of play, the reigning league holders have found the back of the net inside the final 20 minutes of action in each of their opening three top-flight fixtures. Yet, taking into account their away results from the final stretch of the last season, the ‘Warriors’ have pulled off just two wins in five of their previous league road trips (D3), with four of those matches featuring under 2.5 total goals.
