Gangwon vs Daegu 22/08/20

22 August 2020

Gangown and Daegu go head-to-head at the Chuncheon Songam Stadium in potential high-scoring K League 1 affair. All four of their previous top-flight H2Hs have featured over 2.5 goals and both sides scoring.

The hosts take the field after failing to pick up a win in five league matches (D3, L2), drawing a blank on three of those occasions. But, despite winning just once in their last three K League 1 home outings (D1, L1), the ‘Kodiaks’ have found the net in all six halves of top-flight action across those games, scoring eight goals! It will be a daunting prospect for Gangwon to improve their home form as they take on a side they’ve lost to in all five of their previous K League 1 H2Hs held at this venue. Also, ten goals conceded in their last four home league fixtures suggests defensive vulnerability. Particularly exposed in the second half of play, Kim Byung-soo’s men have shipped seven of those ten goals beyond the hour mark.

On the other hand, none of Daegu’s last nine league matches has ended in a draw (W5, L4), with the previous five all seeing the winner on the day keep a clean sheet. Curiously, though, two of the visitors’ three top-flight away triumphs this term have seen them come from behind the to seal three points. Notably, Daegu’s away action usually sparks into life after the half-time break, as 83.33% of the goals scored/conceded on the road arrived in the second half of play (15/18). Also, three of their last five K League 1 trips have seen over 2.5 goals and both teams score after the break.
