Fulham vs Tottenham Hotspur
Craven Cottage sets the stage for an exciting Premier League London derby between Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur.
Despite slipping to a 2-1 defeat to Brighton last weekend, Fulham enjoy their best top-flight campaign in terms of points this century and could still secure a coveted European finish. However, the Cottagers must shrug off inconsistency to haul back a five-point deficit on sixth-placed Newcastle United after alternating between victories (2) and defeats (2) across their last four league outings. A repeat of a 3-0 rout in this corresponding fixture in 2023/24 doesn’t look likely, especially considering Marco Silva’s men have lost the last two London derbies, including a 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in their most recent home game. Nonetheless, Silva will aim to pain his 200th Premier League match in the dugout with flying colors after holding Spurs to a 1-1 draw in December’s reverse fixture.
Meanwhile, Tottenham received the ultimate confidence booster ahead of this clash, overturning a 1-0 first-leg deficit with a commanding 3-1 home win against AZ Alkmaar to reach the Europa League quarter-finals. That result ended Spurs’ disheartening three-game winless run in all competitions (D1, L2) and alleviated some pressure on under-fire manager Ange Postecoglou. However, Spurs remain miles away from securing a top-half finish in one of their worst Premier League campaigns in recent memory. They’ve been particularly sloppy on the road, where they’ve lost more than 50% of their top-flight outings this season (W5, D1, L7). But they’ve won their last two away league matches via multi-goal margins.
