Freiburg welcome Bayern Munich to the Schwarzwald-Stadion looking to take advantage of the visitors’ indifferent form to put an end to their six-game winless run in Bundesliga (BL) H2Hs (D2, L4).

The hosts have endured mixed fortunes in their last six BL fixtures (W2, D2, L2), with three of those results (win/loss) in that sequence coming with the exact 1-0 scoreline (W2, L1). Christian Streich’s men sit sixth in the table mainly thanks to an impressive home form that has seen them rack up a five-game unbeaten BL home streak, winning each of their last three such fixtures. Interestingly, all three of those successes have come via a single-goal margin and witnessed Freiburg hit the net in the final 15 minutes of play. However, they now have to defy a dismal recent home record against Bayern (D1, L2) to keep their run going. Another potential worry for the home side is a lack of home goals, as Freiburg have netted one goal or less in five of their last seven competitive home matches.

Meanwhile, the Bavarians have responded to back-to-back BL defeats to Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach with a 6-1 demolition of Werder Bremen, but they still trail table-toppers RB Leipzig by six points. Hans-Dieter Flick has his team’s indifferent recent away form to blame for Bayern’s struggling, as the reigning holders have picked up only one triumph in their last four BL road trips (W1, D1, L2). All four of those matches have, however, featured at least three goals, with three of them seeing both teams score. Also, Bayern’s leaky defense has kept a clean sheet just once in their previous five BL away fixtures, allowing two or more goals in the remaining four during that period.
