Fortuna Dusseldorf vs Bayer Leverkusen 24/08/19
24 August 2019
Bayer Leverkusen travel to the Merkur Spiel-Arena to take on Fortuna Dusseldorf looking to post their third consecutive Bundesliga (BL) away win over Fortunen.
The hosts have enjoyed a perfect start to their season thanks to 3-1 away win over Werder Bremen, which was their tenth consecutive BL game that has seen both teams score. Prolific in the final third but unconvincing at the back, Flingeraner have provided their fans with plenty of entertainment in that period. Nine of those ten league matches have featured at least three goals, with six of them producing over 3.5 goals. Furthermore, the Merkur Spiel-Arena has been a venue of entertainment since the turn of the year, as all eight of Dusseldorf’s BL home games in 2019 featured over 2.5 goals. Interestingly, none of those fixtures have ended in a draw (W5, L3), with all of their defeats in that period seeing Dusseldorf concede three or more goals and score one or less.
As for the visitors, they’ve pulled off a tight 3-2 home win over the returnees Paderborn in their opener, stretching their unbeaten BL run to seven games (W6, D1). Unstoppable in the final third, they have netted 2+ match goals in five of those triumphs, scoring a total of 21 goals across those seven fixtures. Regular on the scoresheet since the turn of the year, Leverkusen have found the net in 17 straight Bundesliga outings. None of Bayer’s eight BL trips in 2019 has ended in a stalemate (W6, L2), with five of those games seeing the Company XI score 3+ match goals.
