Feyenoord vs Borussia Dortmund 11/01/20

11 January 2020

Feyenoord and Borussia Dortmund will face off in a friendly meeting at the Estadio Municipal Antonio Lorenzo Cuevas this weekend.

Feyenoord have won all four of their previous matches, including friendlies, with each of those games producing over 2.5 goals and seeing both teams score. An early goal is on the cards here, as five of Feyenoord’s previous seven matches have featured at least one goal inside the opening half an hour. Their defensive frailties have seen Dick Advocaat’s men fail to shut their opponents out in nine of their last 11 outings, allowing over 1.5 match goals on four of those occasions. Still, ‘De club aan de Maas’ boast a solid overall record against Dortmund (W1, D2, L1), with each of those four H2Hs seeing both teams hit the net.

Meanwhile, the BVB have struggled to pick up a win in their last three outings (D2, L1), with two of those games featuring three or more goals and seeing both teams score. In fact, virtually all of Dortmund’s matches over the past few months have overseen a lot of action. Twelve of their last 13 fixtures have produced over 2.5 goals, with a goalless draw with Standard Liege in a friendly last time out being a lone exception. Dortmund’s dip in form has coincided with a recent lack of goals, as they’ve scored just one goal in their previous two games. That’s a sharp contrast to their free-scoring form from the first half of December that saw Lucien Favre’s men net 2+ match goals in five successive fixtures.
