Faroe Islands vs Sweden 06/09/19
6 September 2019
Involved in a three-way battle for the second spot in Group F, Sweden head to the Tórsvøllur to take on the Faroe Islands aiming to make their trip counts.
It has so far been a disappointing qualifying campaign for the hosts, who are still chasing their elusive first points in Group F (L4). All of their losses so far have seen the Faroe Islands concede two or more goals and score one or less. What’s more, the hosts have grabbed just one win in their last five competitive games at home (W1, D1, L3), with three of those matches featuring over 2.5 goals. Also, they are winless against Sweden in both of their previous competitive H2Hs (L2), with the National Team conceding precisely two goals per match in those clashes while scoring one in total.
Meanwhile, a 3-0 away loss to Spain has brought the visitors’ three-game unbeaten start to the qualifying to a halt (W2, L1). Before losing to the Red Fury, the Blue and Yellow were held to a 3-3 away draw to Norway, as they now look to post their first road triumph in Group F. However, Sweden’s away form lately cannot encourage Janne Andersson, as his men pulled off just two wins in their previous eight trips in all competitions (W2, D3, L3). Still, none of their qualifying matches have been short of entertainment, as all four have produced over 2.5 goals, with two of them seeing both teams score.
