Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur 24/12/18
24 December 2018
Winless in their last four Premier League outings, Everton face a challenging task ending this frustrating streak as they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Goodison Park.
Along with Southampton, the Toffees (6) have played out more draws than any other side in the English top-tier competition this campaign. The Merseysiders were also held to two consecutive stalemates at home, to Watford and Newcastle United, extending their unbeaten home run to six games. Although Everton have problems in the final third this season, Marco Silva’s players have scored in all of their opening nine home games, bagging a minimum of two goals per match five times in the process. On the other hand, Jordan Pickford has kept a clean sheet three times at home so far, conceding more than one goal per match just twice in the run.
Goodison Park has been a fortress for numerous Premier League teams over the past few years, but the Spurs have avoided a loss on their last five visits to Liverpool, securing two wins in the process. Proved to be one of the best road squads in the English top flight, Mauricio Pochettino’s men have racked up eight wins one ten road trips this term, more than any other team in the Premier League. Only Arsenal (20) have scored more goals than Tottenham (19) on the road this season, with Pochettino’s players scoring a minimum of two goals per match five times on their last seven road trips in the league. The Spurs also remain the only team in England that is yet to play out a draw after the opening 17 league fixtures (W13, L4).
