Everton vs Manchester United

Goodison Park forms the backdrop for a bottom-half Premier League six-pointer between Everton and Manchester United.

Despite starting the new calendar year as one of potential relegation candidates, Everton have emerged as the Premier League’s most in-form team since David Moyes’ return to the club. Indeed, they’ve amassed a league-high 13 points across his six matches in charge (W4, D1, L1), beating Crystal Palace 2-1 last time out to steer 13 points clear of the bottom three. With seventh points separating them from 10th-placed Brighton, a first top-half finish since 2020/21 could be on the cards in their final season at Goodison. Meanwhile, Moyes has rekindled Everton’s uneventful frontline, with the Toffees bagging 12 goals across their last five Premier League outings – more than they had in their previous 16 combined!

On the other hand, Manchester United’s dreadful campaign hit a new low last weekend as Tottenham pulled off a third competitive win against them this season, dropping them to 15th in the Premier League standings! Manager Ruben Amorim cannot catch a break, with the Red Devils breaking negative records for fun as they head into proceedings having lost three of their last four league matches (W1). Amorim has suffered an alarming eight defeats across his first 14 top-flight games in charge of Man Utd, casting doubt on his ability to restore glory at Old Trafford. However, he can draw confidence from United’s inspiring six-game winning streak against Everton in all competitions.
