England vs United States 16/11/18

16 November 2018

England will meet the United States in a friendly match at the Wembley Stadium in London, looking to extend a 3-game unbeaten run.

After finishing 4th at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the Three Lions have lost 2-1 to Spain at home in the UEFA Nations League. However, Gareth Southgate’s players have managed to bounce back instantly, defeating Switzerland in a friendly challenge by a narrow 1-goal margin. Furthermore, the 1966 World Cup champions have taken their revenge on the Red Fury, having outplayed Luis Enrique’s side on the road, mainly thanks to an astonishing first-half performance. Meanwhile, Rashford and Sterling were the principal culprits for England’s 0-0 draw with Croatia, as Livakovic performed a few outstanding saves to deny Manchester United and Manchester City stars.

On the other hand, not only the United States failed to qualify for the World Cup in Russia, but they’ve also struggled to raise their game after disappointing qualifiers. The Stars and Stripes have suffered three defeats in the previous six matches, having outscored only Mexico in the process. Additionally, a 1-0 win over El Tri was the only time the Yanks have managed to keep a clean sheet in the last six encounters. Meanwhile, Christian Pulisic and his fellow international colleagues are scoring on a regular basis, having found the back of the net at least once in seven out of the last eight meetings. Although Dave Sarachan hopes to see his rejuvenated team stepping up their game, laps of concentration and lack of consistency might prove costly for the USMNT, yet again.
