Eintracht Frankfurt vs Werder Bremen 05/03/20

5 March 2020

Eintracht Frankfurt and Werder Bremen go head-to-head in the DFB Pokal quarter-finals at the Commerzbank-Arena this midweek.

The hosts have endured mixed fortunes in their last five competitive outings (W2, D1, L2), with all of them producing over 2.5 goals. Indeed, Frankfurt have been an enjoyable team to watch recently, as five of their six previous games in all competitions featured four goals or more, with all but one of them producing over 2.5 second-half goals. Before losing 2-1 to Union Berlin last time out, ‘Die Adler’ had secured four consecutive home triumphs, all of which had yielded a multiple-goal margin and witnessed Frankfurt notch at least two goals in the second half of play. Adi Hutter’s men are likely to maintain their free-scoring form here, considering they’ve bagged over 1.5 goals in five of their last six home clashes against Werder (W3, D2, L1).

As for the visitors, they head to the Commerzbank-Arena in the midst of a severe crisis that has seen them lose five of their last six competitive matches (W1). Frustratingly for the traveling fans, ‘Die Werderaner’ have conceded over 1.5 goals in all of those five failures, drawing a blank in four. Also, lapses in concentration after the break are why 11 of Werder’s last 14 goals conceded came in the second half (78.57%) – in the same interval, Florian Kohfeldt’s players have managed just one goal. Werder have not enjoyed much luck away from home either, losing five of their eight previous road fixtures (W1, D2). Yet, six of those eight away games produced over 2.5 goals, with Werder opening the scoring in four.
