Eintracht Frankfurt vs St Pauli

Eintracht Frankfurt and St Pauli are set to trade tackles at Deutsche Bank Park in a high-stakes Bundesliga meeting.

Eintracht Frankfurt are on the verge of securing Champions League football as they boast a five-point lead over fifth-placed Borussia Dortmund heading into the penultimate round. Therefore, a first top-three Bundesliga finish this century is nearly a foregone conclusion for Dino Toppmoller’s side. After winning their last three home league games ‘to nil,’ Frankfurt can post four consecutive home clean sheets in top-flight action since 1978. Strong form puts them in a decent position, as they’ve only lost once in their previous seven league matches (W4, D2). Furthermore, St Pauli’s visit only increases the hosts’ confidence after they avoided defeat in the last four top-flight H2Hs on this ground (W3, D3). However, a narrow 1-0 win in January’s reverse fixture suggests this may not be a walk in the park.

On the other hand, St Pauli’s lead over 16th-placed Heidenheim is only two points before the kick-off, meaning their top-flight survival is still up in the air. Avoiding relegation playoffs remains firmly in their hands as they boast superior goal difference to other bottom-three sides despite only winning once in their last six league outings (D3, L2). Scoring issues have marred St Pauli’s season, with Alexander Blessin’s side netting a league-low 26 goals in the Bundesliga this season. Moreover, a 1-0 defeat at Stuttgart last weekend marked their 16th scoreless league game – a comfortable league-high in 2024/25. In doing so, they’ve set two unwanted club records after 32 top-flight rounds, though fans won’t lose much sleep over that if St Pauli stay in the Bundesliga.
