Eintracht Frankfurt vs Freiburg 27/05/20

27 May 2020

The two struggling Bundesliga (BL) sides will face-off at the Commerzbank-Arena as Eintracht Frankfurt take on Freiburg.

A disastrous 5-2 away loss to Bayern Munich at the weekend has brought Frankfurt’s losing run to five consecutive league games, as they now hover just four points clear of the relegation zone. The main source of Frankfurt’s suffering during that period has been a fragile defense that has conceded over 2.5 goals in four of those defeats. Also, none of their last five BL home matches has ended in a draw (W2, L3), with four of those results (win/loss) seeing the winner on the day open the scoring and net at least one goal beyond the hour mark. Slow home starts could trouble ‘Die Adler’ here, considering they’ve shipped the opening goal in seven of 13 league games at this venue, failing to bounce back on three of those occasions (W1, D3, L3).

The visitors are not enjoying the best of times either, picking up just a single win in their last six league matches (D2, L3). All three of their defeats during that six-game sequence have seen them fail to find the back of the net. Things get worse for Freiburg when they go on the road, as they’ve secured only one victory in their last 11 BL away fixtures (D5, L5), failing to score in four of those five losses. It will be an uphill task for Christian Streich’s players to improve that disastrous away form, considering they’ve won just once in their last four league trips to Frankfurt (D1, L2).
