Eintracht Frankfurt vs Borussia Monchengladbach 17/05/20

17 May 2020

Eintracht Frankfurt will look to snap a three-game winless run in the Bundesliga (BL) H2Hs with Borussia Monchengladbach when the two sides meet at the Commerzbank-Arena this weekend.

The hosts suffered three straight BL defeats before the coronavirus pandemic halted club campaign, with two of those failures yielding the same 4-0 scoreline. Also, none of Eintracht’s last four league home fixtures has ended in a draw (W2, L2), with both of their successes in that four-game sequence seeing Frankfurt keep a clean sheet. Far more prolific in the second half of play, ‘Die Adler‘ have struck 67% (18) of their 27 BL home goals score after the halftime break. It’s, therefore, not strange that they’ve opened the scoring in just half (six) of their 12 league home games. But, even if they concede the opener, as they did in six league home fixtures, Adi Hutter’s men could still end up unbeaten – they lost just two of six BL home games in which they’ve shipped the opening goal (W1, D3).

Meanwhile, the visitors had overseen an upturn in away results just before the pandemic, going from four consecutive BL trips without a win (D2, L2) to back-to-back triumphs. Particularly dangerous after the break, Marco Rose’s men netted six of their seven goals across those two wins in the second half. Additionally, considering the previous three top-flight H2Hs featured both teams scoring, as well as all of Monchengladbach’s last seven league matches, the Foals will feel they can get on the scoresheet. The possible worry for the traveling fans could be the fact that Monchengladbach have secured just a single win in their last six BL trips to Frankfurt (D3, L2).
