Eintracht Frankfurt vs Bayern Munich 02/11/19
2 November 2019
Fresh from a stunning comeback win over Bochum in the DFB Pokal, Bayern Munich will be looking to stretch their winning run in all competitions to four games when they take on Eintracht Frankfurt at the Commerzbank-Arena.
The hosts have endured mixed fortunes in their last six Bundesliga (BL) outings (W2, D2, L2), as they currently sit three points adrift of fourth-placed Wolfsburg. Still, ‘Die Adler’ have been one of the most entertaining teams to watch so far, with seven of their nine BL fixtures producing over 2.5 goals and seeing both teams score. Unbeaten in the opening five BL home games (W3, D2), they’ll be desperate to post their first BL home triumph over Bayern since March 2010 and bring a disastrous eight-game winless BL home streak in H2Hs to a halt (D3, L5). While he has to worry about his team’s defensive frailties – five goals conceded in as many BL home games, Adi Hütter can be happy to know that his players have netted 2+ match goals in four consecutive BL home matches.
The visitors have, on the other hand, snapped a two-game winless BL streak (D1, L1) with a tight 2-1 home success against the newly-promoted Union Berlin last time out. However, Niko Kovac is yet to plug his leaky defense that failed to keep a clean sheet in four straight league games ahead of this trip, conceding seven goals across those matches. In fact, the reigning champions have yielded 63% of their total BL goals (11) in the last four league outings. What’s more, after a 3-0 win over Schalke 04 in their opening BL away game, the Bavarians have struggled to preserve a clean slate in the subsequent three league trips, scoring 2+ match goals twice along the way (W1, D2).
