Eintracht Frankfurt vs Arminia Bielefeld 19/09/20
19 September 2020
Eintracht Frankfurt entertain newly-promoted Arminia Bielefeld at the Commerzbank-Arena for their first Bundesliga meeting since 2009.
A low-scoring contest is well on the cards, considering three of their previous five competitive H2Hs have featured under 2.5 goals, including the last two. Against this backdrop, Commerzbank-Arena was a venue of entertainment back in 2019/20, as 11 (64.71%) of Frankfurt’s 17 Bundesliga games played here last season saw over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet. If 2019/20 is an indicator, ‘Die Adler’ will have to avoid conceding the opening goal to keep their hopes of winning alive. A lack of ability to bounce back after shipping the opener saw Frankfurt win just two from 21 Bundesliga fixtures in which they allowed the first goal last season (W2, D6, L13). Yet, Adi Hutter’s men have been pretty impressive in front of goal this calendar year, scoring over 1.5 goals in eight (66.67) of 12 competitive home outings in 2020.
Meanwhile, Bielefeld finished top of the 2. Bundesliga last season to regain a top-flight status after an 11-year absence. A truly inspirational league campaign saw ‘Die Arminen’ suffer just two defeats from 34 fixtures, although no side played out more draws (14) than Uwe Neuhaus’ team. Arminia’s away success last season was based on a rock-solid defense that shipped only 18 goals on an average of 1.05 goals per league trip. The visitors can hope to translate that kind of form here, considering they’ve conceded under 1.5 goals in four of their previous five competitive trips to Frankfurt. Low scoring has been a theme for Bielefeld on the road this calendar year, as five of their eight competitive away fixtures in 2020 have featured under 2.5 goals.
