Eibar vs Barcelona 19/10/19

19 October 2019

Barcelona travel to the Estadio Municipal de Ipurua to take on Eibar against whom they boast an almost perfect La Liga (LL) H2H record (W9, D1).

Unbeaten in four consecutive LL outings (W2, D2), the hosts have managed to overcome a dreadful start to the season, as they currently sit two points of the relegation zone. It has taken Eibar six matches to seal their first league win of the season (D2, L3) before they’ve gone on to secure the second in quick succession. Both of Eibat’s LL triumphs have come at home and have seen them net over 1.5 match goals, with all five goals they’ve scored in those games arriving in the second half. But, it will be a daunting prospect for the “Azulgranas” to maintain a good form at home, as they’ve lost four straight top-flight H2Hs with Barcelona at home before playing out a 2-2 draw last season.

The reigning LL holders head to Eibar on a run of three successive league victories, all of which have seen them lead at the break and score 2+ match goals. However, far more comfortable at home, the Catalans have pulled off just one win in four LL trips this term (D1, L2). A 2-0 win over Getafe in their last league road trip has seen them bring a five-game LL away winless streak to a halt (D2, L3), and it was also the first time that they’ve kept a clean sheet away from home since late April. Although no team has scored more LL goals than the Blaugrana (20) this season, just 20% of those goals netted have come on the road (4), with Barcelona drawing a blank twice away from home already.
