Dundee United vs Celtic 23/08/20

23 August 2020

Celtic will be looking to post a sixth consecutive Premiership triumph over Dundee United when the two sides meet at Tannadice Park this weekend.

All four of Dundee’s opening Premiership fixtures have been notably tight, with each yielding a full-time no greater than one goal (W2, D1, L1). Additionally, low scoring has been a theme for the hosts in the early stage of the season, as three of their four league matches so far have produced under 2.5 goals, with two featuring under 1.5 goals. The ‘Terrors’ have struggled to impress at home in 2020, picking up just one win from seven competitive games (D4, L2). Despite only two of those fixtures produced over 2.5 goals, six have seen both teams score. They now face a formidable challenge of a Celtic side they’ve lost to in all three of their previous top-flight home H2Hs.

Meanwhile, free-scoring visitors, who netted at least three goals in all of their last three trips to Dundee, go into this clash on the back of a 6-0 thumping of KR Reykjavik in the Champions Leauge qualifying. But, after a 5-1 demolition of Hamilton on the opening matchday of the season, the ‘Bhoys’ played out a 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock on the road last time out. It now means Celtic are unbeaten in all 12 of their top-flight games this calendar year (W10, D2), conceding under 1.5 goals on 11 of those occasions. Also, away from home in the Premiership, Neil Lennon’s men have won five of seven fixtures in 2020 (D2), scoring two goals or more six times along the way.
