Dijon vs Paris Saint-Germain 02/11/19

2 November 2019

Rock-bottom Dijon side welcome the Ligue 1 (L1) toppers Paris Saint-Germain to the Stade Gaston Gérard for a David vs. Goliath clash.

Nailed to the bottom of the table ahead of the day, the hosts seem to have no chance of snapping a seven-game losing L1 streak against PSG. Winless in their last two league outings without finding the back of the net (D1, L1), Dijon remain the weakest attacking side in France’s top-flight, with just five league goals scored so far. Only two of those goals have come on home turf, where Stéphane Jobard’s men drew a blank in three of five L1 fixtures (W1, D2, L2). After a 2-1 loss to St. Etienne in the home curtain-raiser, none of their subsequent four L1 home matches has produced over 2.5 total goals. But, three consecutive home clean sheets can encourage Les Moutardes, who have conceded 2+ match goals in their last four L1 home H2Hs with PSG (L4).

Fresh from a 4-0 dismantling of Olympique Marseille, the reigning holders will be looking to stretch their L1 winning run to five straight games. Notably, each of their last four wins in all competitions has seen them score 4+ match goals. Moreover, 11 of PSG’s 12 competitive triumphs this term have been accompanied by a clean sheet, with the Parisians keeping a blank slate in three of five L1 road trips so far (W4, L1). But, although they’ve scored more league goals than any other side (23), only 39% of those goals have come away from home (9). Lethal in the closing stages, Thomas Tuchel’s men have netted four of their away goals beyond the 70th minute.
