D.C. United vs Real Betis 23/05/19

23 May 2019

D.C. United and Real Betis go head-to-head for a friendly challenge, as the visitors head towards Audi Field for the first time.

Both teams have had identical returns from their last five games across their respective national championships (W2, D1, L2), although both of Betis’ wins have come in the past two matches.

For D.C. United, goals have been at a premium lately. Black-and-Red have failed to find the net in five of their last ten fixtures, scoring over 1.5 match goals only once in the process. Additionally, United’s difficulties in the final third have seen them struggle to score in three of their last five home games. Also, four of their previous six games have featured under 1.5 goals, with three of them seeing the identical 0-0 halftime scoreline. But, Ben Olsen’s defense has stood firm in the recent period, keeping three clean sheets in United’s previous six outings, while restricting their opponents to one goal per match on two more occasions.

Meanwhile, although they’ve pulled off a stunning 2-0 away win over Real Madrid in the final round of La Liga fixtures, Los Verdiblancos have still finished 10th in the Spanish top tier this term. Unlike D.C. United, Betis’ recent games have not been short of entertainment, with eight of their last 11 matches seeing both teams score while seven of them producing over 2.5 goals. The aforementioned triumph over Real was the first game after ten straight clashes in which the Andalusians managed to keep a clean sheet. It was also the second consecutive match where Béticos scored over 1.5 goals after they’ve netted one goal or less in four straight games.
