Crystal Palace vs Manchester United 28/02/19
28 February 2019
An improving Crystal Palace team tackle the resurgent Manchester United at the Selhurst Park as the visitors go after their sixth successive PL road triumph.
The hosts’ haul of eight points in their last four PL fixtures (W2, D2) has seen them creating a six-point gap on 18th-placed Southampton as they now go in search of their elusive first home triumph over Man Utd. Roy Hodgson can be happy to see his defense improving so much in the past three months, with the Glaziers keeping a clean sheet in six of their last nine home games across all competitions, restricting their rivals to a maximum of one goal per match on two occasions in the process. However, a potential worry for Hodgson could be the fact Crystal Palace scored just seven goals in their previous seven home outings, failing to bag a goal twice along the way. Another problem for the Eagles is their disappointing home record against the top-six Premier League sides that has seen them collect barely one point in four PL meetings with the English heavyweights.
Meanwhile, the visitors come into this meeting after playing out a 0-0 draw with Liverpool, which was the first time they’ve failed to find the net in the Premier League since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Nonetheless, the Red Devils have extended their unbeaten league run to ten games (W8, D2) as they currently sit just one point adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal. What’s more, Solskjaer’s men have put seven consecutive away victories together, scoring 17 goals while conceding only two in the process. Additionally, Man Utd were ruthless against the lower-ranked teams as four of those seven road wins have come against the sides placed in the bottom half of the table.
