Crvena Zvezda vs Tottenham Hotspur 07/11/19

7 November 2019

Determined to replicate the same performances that secured them a 5-0 home win in the reversed fixture, Tottenham Hotspur travel to the Stadion Rajko Mitić to lock horns with Crvena Zvezda in the UEFA Champions League (CL).

After a 3-0 demolition to Bayern Munich, the hosts have performed a stunning second-half comeback to beat Olympiacos 3-1 at home, as they now sit one point adrift of second-placed Tottenham. Far more comfortable at home, the reigning Serbian champions have secured all seven of their CL points at home, last season included. But, the Red-Whites have not enjoyed the best of times playing against the English opponents recently (W2, D2, L5). Before beating Liverpool last season, they have lost two straight home clashes against the Premier League visitors. However, except for a 4-1 defeat to PSG last term, Crvena Zvezda have avoided failure in 14 UEFA fixtures on home soil (W7, D6).

Meanwhile, an out-of-sorts Tottenham side have picked up a little bit of everything at the beginning of the 2019/20 CL season (W1, D1, L1), having shipped nine goals already. After being held to a 2-2 away draw to Olympiacos, they’ve suffered the heaviest home defeat in Europe, 7-2 to Bayern Munich, before making things right against Crvena Zvezda. The Lilywhites have failed to live up to expectations when away from home in Europe recently, securing just three victories in their last 13 away fixtures in the CL group stage. Still, Spurs boast a solid overall record against the Serbian clubs, home and away (W5, D1, L1), although just one of those triumphs has come on the road.
