Crvena Zvezda vs Bayern Munich 27/11/19

27 November 2019

Losers in the last two UEFA Champions League (CL) outings, Crvena Zvezda now need to beat Bayern Munich at the Stadion Rajko Mitić, to keep their hopes progression from Group B alive.

A 3-1 home win over Olympiacos aside, the hosts have lost all three of their remaining CL matches, conceding at least three goals across all of those failures. What’s more, they have drawn a blank in both of their previous CL defeats, conceding a goal in the final 10 minutes of the first half and allowing at least two more after the break. However, the ‘Crveno-beli’ have a solid recent home record to rely on here, as they’ve lost just two of their previous 15 European matches in Belgrade (W7, D6, L2). Additionally, they have suffered only one defeat in their last 12 European clashes against the German visitors, winning eight of those matches (W8, D3, L1).

Meanwhile, the visitors have been setting the pace in Group B ever since Matchday 1, winning all four of their opening CL fixtures. While all of those victories saw them score at least two goals, only half (2) of them have been accompanied by a clean sheet. In fact, the Bavarians have conceded precisely two goals in both of their CL road trips so far, scoring a total of ten goals in the process, though. The reigning Bundesliga holders are unlikely to concede here either, given that they have not allowed a single goal since Niko Kovac stepped down. Furthermore, they have now secured four successive wins over Serbian clubs, netting at least three goals in each of those successes.
