Colorado Rapids vs Arsenal 16/07/19
16 July 2019
Arsenal will kick off their US tour at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Park as they will face the MLS franchise Colorado Rapids in a friendly clash.
The MLS team endured mixed fortunes over the past couple of months (W1, D3, L1), with four of those matches producing over 2.5 goals and seeing both teams score. Colorado’s drop-off in form has come after a prolific period that has seen them pull off four wins in five MLS outings (W4, D1), although three of those games have featured under 2.5 goals. Rapids have struggled for consistency when at home over the past four months (W4, D1, L5), but eight of those games have featured over 2.5 goals and witnessed goals at both ends.
The under-strength Arsenal team was held to a 3-3 draw to the English lower-league side Boreham Wood in the first summer friendly earlier this month. It was Arsenal’s sixth straight match that has seen both teams score and the fourth consecutive that has featured over 3.5 goals. The Gunners’ inability to keep a clean sheet has seen them concede at least one goal nine times in a row, allowing over 1.5 match goals on six occasions in the process. But, Unai Emery’s men have been scoring on a regular basis recently, finding the net in six consecutive outings while bagging 2+ match goals four times along the way.
