Club Brugge vs Paris Saint-Germain 23/10/19

23 October 2019

The two unbeaten sides in the UEFA Champions League (CL) Group A come face-to-face at the Jan Breydel Stadion as Club Brugge take on Paris Saint-Germain.

After a goalless home draw with Galatasaray in their Group A opener, the hosts have pulled off a heroic 2-2 draw against Real Madrid on the road, stretching their unbeaten CL run to six games (W1, D5). In fact, the Belgian giants are yet to suffer a loss in all competitions this season, CL qualifying included (W12, D5). Impressively, while eight of those wins have seen them score at least two goals, eight have been accompanied by a clean sheet. However, the Blauw-Zwart have won just three of their last 20 CL matches (D6, L11), with a 4-0 demolition of AS Monaco on the road last season being their only triumph in 14 of their previous CL outings (D4, L9). Club Brugge have endured mixed fortunes in their last six meetings with the French clubs at home (W2, D2, L2), with their last win over the French visitors dating back to December 2009.

The visitors have, meanwhile, picked up six points from their opening two CL fixtures without conceding a single goal. After a 3-0 dismantling of Real Madrid in the curtain-raiser, the Parisians pulled off a tight 1-0 away win over Galatasaray to stretch their winning away run in the CL to three straight games. If the reigning Ligue 1 champions do win at the Jan Breydel Stadion, they might as well do it by keeping a clean sheet. Nine of their 11 triumphs in all competitions this term have seen them beat their rivals ‘to nil’ with 44.44% of those wins ending with the identical 1-0 scoreline (4). Also, PSG have come off winners in both of their previous visits to Belgium, netting nine goals across those victories while keeping a blank sheet in the process.
