Club Brugge vs Dynamo Kyiv 07/08/19

7 August 2019

Club Brugge and Dynamo Kyiv go head-to-head at the Jan Breydel Stadion for the first leg of their Champions League Qualifiers tie. Both sides have enjoyed a bright start to their respective domestic championships, pulling off two wins in as many games apiece.

The hosts have been impressive at the beginning of the 2019-20 Jupiler League campaign, securing a 3-1 away win over Waasland-Beveren before sweeping St. Truiden aside with a commanding 6-0 home victory. It is not a surprise that the Voetbalvereniging started the new season so well, as they’ve been outstanding in the pre-season. They have five wins in seven pre-season games (W5, D1, L1), scoring 25 goals across those matches, although keeping a blank sheet only once in the process. Another encouraging fact for Philippe Clement is that Brugge have racked up a six-game winning home run in competitive games, beating their rivals to nil four times along the way.

Meanwhile, both of the visitors’ league wins so far have arrived away from home, with Dynamo beat their rivals to nil while bagging over 1.5 goals per match on both occasions. They have also performed a stunning late comeback against Shakhtar Donetsk to claim the Ukrainian Super Cup at the end of June. Although unbeaten on their last six road trips across all competitions (W5, D1), Dynamo have struggled to provide their fans with entertainment during the run, with just one of those matches featuring over 2.5 goals. Alyaksandr Khatskevich’s players have allowed just one goal in that period while netting one goal or less three times in the process.
