Chelsea vs Liverpool 06/05/18
6 May 2018
With minimal chances of closing the gap on Tottenham and reaching Champions League football for the next year, Chelsea will host Liverpool at the Stamford Bridge hoping for a positive outcome and praying the Spurs might drop some points against WBA. After a couple of disappointing performances against West Ham and Tottenham, the Blues have managed to achieve three consecutive victories in the Premier League, beating Swansea, Burnley, and Southampton in the process, while the Reds managed to book their ticket to Kiev after suffering a lot in a game against Roma in the midweek. The Merseyside club have only two wins in the previous five matches on the road, drawing two times in a row, while the London side failed to win in their last two games at home. However, a potential defeat would see Liverpool dropping their lead over Antonio Conte’s team to only three points and considering Chelsea are having one game less than the Reds, this is going to be an important match for both sides.
David Luiz is the only injured player in the home squad, while the visitors experience huge problems with injuries, as Joel Matip, Emre Can, Adam Lallana, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are yet to return to full fitness.
