Chelsea vs Huddersfield Town 10/05/18
10 May 2018
A narrow 1-0 victory over Liverpool at the Stamford Bridge last weekend has opened a way for Chelsea to return to the Champions League promotion race, as the Blues now have three points less than the Reds and one more game to play. After four consecutive league victories in which they’ve scored seven goals, the London team are set to host the struggling Huddersfield side, who have compromised their chances of avoiding relegation over the last couple of weeks, and this match will be very important for both managers. Antonio Conte is desperate to lead his team to the most prestigious club competition in Europe following a trophyless season, while David Wagner looks to keep his team in the English top flight for another year. The Terriers’ last win on the road dates back to February when they’ve defeated WBA by two goals to one, and since then, they’ve failed to achieve a victory in four games in a row, while Chelsea won three out of their previous five encounters at home.
David Luiz is yet to recover from a long-lasting knee injury and won’t be at Conte’s disposal for the match, while Sean Scannell, Michael Hefele, Elias Kachunga, and Danny Williams are all sidelined with injuries for the visitors.
