Cerezo Osaka vs Consadole Sapporo 09/09/20

09 September 2020

Cerezo Osaka will be trying to bring a two-game winless J1 League home run against Consadole Sapporo to a halt (D1, L1) when the two clubs meet at the Yanmar Stadium Nagai this midweek.

A 3-0 home triumph over Urawa last time out gave Cerezo a third consecutive J1 League triumph, all of which featured over 2.5 goals. But, low scoring has been a theme for the hosts at home this term, as five of their seven league matches held at this stadium have contained under 2.5 goals. Miguel Angel Lotina’s men often tend to step up their game after the half-time break, having accrued the vast majority (75%) of the J1 League home goals scored in the second half of play (6/8). Notably, the ‘Sakura’ boast the division’s joint-best defensive home record after conceding an average of 0.42 goals per J1 League home fixture.

As for the visitors, they take the field after failing to pick up all three points in six consecutive league matches (D2, L4). Each of their four defeats during that six-game sequence has yielded at least a two-goal margin, with three seeing Sapporo concede over 2.5 goals. Also, Mihailo Petrovic’s men have been performing in patches on the road this term, going from four successive J1 League trips without a loss (W2, D2) to back-to-back defeats. But, they’ve been an exciting team to watch, as five of their seven league games on the road have seen over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet, with four producing at least four total goals.
