Cagliari vs Juventus 03/04/19
3 April 2019
Encouraged by back-to-back Serie A triumphs, Cagliari prepare for the most challenging task as they welcome league toppers Juventus to the Sardegna Arena.
Far more comfortable at home, the Sardinians have secured 72.73% of their total SA points at home, with six of their eight league wins this term arriving at the Sardegna Arena. The hosts have racked up a three-game SA home winning run in the build-up to this meeting, with all three of those clashes ending with the identical 2-1 scoreline. Surprisingly, only Napoli and Atalanta of five top-six teams that have visited Sardegna Arena this term have managed to walk away with all three points, with AS Roma, AC Milan, and Inter failing to beat the tough hosts. Both of Cagliari’s home SA losses to Napoli and Atalanta have finished with the same 0-1 scoreline.
The visitors come into this meeting off the back of a narrow 1-0 home win over Empoli as they seem to be on the verge of securing their eighth successive Serie A title. But, the undisputed league leaders have suffered their first SA defeat on their previous road trip, losing 2-0 to Genoa on the eve of the international break. Before that, the Bianconeri have boasted an almost perfect SA road record of 12 wins in 13 SA away fixtures (W12, D1), with no team conceding fewer goals away from home than Juventus (10) so far. Interestingly, four of Juve’s last five SA road wins have seen them beating their rivals by a narrow 1-goal margin. Also, the reigning holders have bagged 2+ goals on 11 of 13 SA road trips, which is the best tally in the Italian top tier.
